Evans Graphics has been designing and making signs and lettering vehicles since 1989. Although this marks the official birth of the company, we had been doing sign work for people we know for years before Tony Evans decided to make a business of it. In fact, Tony has been making fire and EMS license plates since 1982 and he lettered his first fire apparatus in 1985!
A 1983 graduate of Monessen High School, Tony studied Visual Communications at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh before opening Evans Graphics in 1989. A volunteer firefighter and EMT since 1984, Tony has served as Captain of the Monessen Fire Dept. No. 1 and is a life member of the Monessen Ambulance Service (Mon Valley EMS), where he has served as chief of the service's technical rescue team. He is also a member of the Twin Rivers Tactical Rescue Team in Rostraver, PA, where he served six years as chief.
Tony also holds a BS degree in Education from California University of Pennsylvania.
Tony likes to Mountain Bike in his spare time, and he has built and repaired many bicycles for children in the greater Monessen area. He has also volunteered to inspect and repair bikes for safety programs held by various municipalities and public safety agencies in the mid Mon-Valley. In 2002, Tony received the Pennsylvania Governor's Award for Highway Safety for his efforts to promote safe bicycling for children.
